Owls just in time for Halloween

These owls were inspired by the latest Pottery Barn Kids catalog – I took my daughters to Hollyhill Quilts, my favorite fabric store, and let them each pick out three fabrics they liked. We talked about what colors do (and don’t!) go together, how patterns look when they get mixed together, etc, but in the end, they got to choose whatever they wanted. I made up the pattern, just looking at the Pottery Barn examples, and they came together quickly – I was able to sew all three in one afternoon. My youngest daughter suggested adding rickrack (she loves to accessorize) so “Cherry” Owl has a little extra decoration. The eyes and beak are made of felt, and we stuffed them with polyfill.
