Track jacket

I usually don’t knit sweaters or tops for myself – it seems to take forever, and there’s always the (significant) chance that I’ll get it all finished and it won’t fit – hours and hours of time, skeins and skeins of yarn, all for nothing! I’ve gotten better about adjusting the pattern as I go along, if I notice that it’s coming out too long or something like that, but some things can’t be easily compensated for or adjusted.

However, I really liked this retro pattern from Spud & Chloe and their sweater yarn – a blend of wool and cotton – is softer than just wool alone, but has a lot more stretch and bounce than just cotton alone. So, I thought it was worth a try. Overall, I’m happy with how it fits, although it seems like a lot of what I knit comes out fitting kind of bulky and shapeless . . . of course, the pattern was intended for a man, so a shaped fit was probably not what the designer was going for. Regardless, I love how it feels and (so long as I roll up the sleeves) it is sized perfectly.  Sewing in the zipper is just like hand-sewing a zipper into a fabric project – time-consuming, but not technically difficult.
