Lettuce-colored Central Park Hoodie

FINALLY, a sweater that I want to wear! I think it’s both the pattern and the yarn – the pattern (Central Park Hoodie) is well-made, and I was able to follow it exactly, without modifications. I tried a little smaller size (40”, equivalent to a medium I’d say) and I think the sizing, combined with the dimensions of the pattern (a little tighter fit, not so long, fitted sleeves) makes it look more fitted and less bulky / boxy.

The yarn is amazing, too – Malabrigo Twist in color lettuce (9 skeins, although I barely used the last skein and could maybe do it in 8 next time). It’s knit on US 8 needles, so it goes pretty quickly, and the cabling keeps it interesting and really shows off the soft, squishy texture of the yarn.

I’m going to add a zipper (a better closure I think than buttons) but in the meantime, I like how it looks just hanging open. I can’t wait to find something else to knit in this yarn, and I think I’ll make another hoodie in a different color (same yarn) just because I like it so much!

One note – the pattern called for blocking each piece before sewing the sweater together and so I did that – I think it made a big difference in the final product, I’ll do that in the future with all my sweaters.
