While I’m stuck trying to finish up the never-ending sweater currently on my needles, summer is fast approaching (at least, according to the calendar, although the weather here hasn’t been very cooperative lately!) I will soon have a chance to pull out some of my summer knits from last year – some of the few tops I knit that I actually want to wear when they’re done . . .
The first is a sweater knit in a beautiful yarn, Debbie Bliss Pure Silk in color Mint Blue. I love the detail on the yoke – one of the first lace knitting projects I did, it came out exactly as pictured. When I finished the sweater, it was a little too short (that’s the intended style, but I wanted it at least long enough to keep my stomach from showing, God forbid!) so I just picked up all the stitches around the bottom again and added another 8-10 rows before casting off.
The pattern is in the Spring/Summer 2009 Debbie Bliss Knitting Magazine.
The two silk camisoles are out of Last Minute Knitted Gifts – one of the best knitting books of all time. They are made from Alchemy Silk Purse (color Kai’s Goldfish) and Debbie Bliss Pure Silk (color 29 – purple/berry). I love the lace detail at the bottom, but I had difficulties getting the straps right – in order to keep the camisole from being too low-cut, I had to shorten the straps until they almost don’t exist. I don’t know if this is my knitting, the pattern, or my figure, but I wasn’t able to figure out how to correct the problem. Nevertheless, with the shortened straps, I still like how the camisole fits on me.Pin It
