Raspberry lace shawl

BEAUTIFUL . . . and it only took a little over three days of knitting! The yarn is one of my new favorites – a small independent shop in Vancouver, B.C. named Sweet Georgia Yarns. This is merino silk dk (50% merino wool and 50% silk) in color Raspberry. At 380 yards, one skein was supposed to be enough for this pattern, but I wound up at least 10 rows short (maybe I knit too loosely). But never fear . . . my yarn stash is so huge now that I found the perfect complementary yarn – right color, right fiber, right gauge! It’s Debbie Bliss Pure Silk DK (now discontinued). I used the recommended needles, sizes US 8, 9, and 10 for the cast-off.

The pattern is Vesna Shawlette – this pattern has two options and I knit the Crescent shape. I used beads I found on Earthfaire (raspberry lined crystal size 6/0) – I inserted them where called for on the pattern, but the result was very little beading and I felt that they didn’t show up enough, so I added them to every other stitch on the cast-off, as well.
