This week in the garden . . . onions and banana slugs

The Walla Walla onions are finally ready for harvesting – but you have to eat them right away, because they don’t store well:

Usually, I despise slugs in my garden, but these native banana slugs are honored guests at our house – and, notably, I only find them in the shady, forested areas, and NEVER in my vegetables!
