As part of the Stitched in Color online class, I’ve been learning the technique of reverse appliqué – I expanded on one of the suggested class projects and made an entire quilt from the reverse appliqué flower pattern. Once I got the hand of it, it went pretty smoothly. I used a Liberty of London fabric pack for the flowers, and Kona white cotton for the background. Per the class project suggestion, I hand embroidered the edges of the appliqué – it gave it a nice hand finished look, and an opportunity to use some Valdani Pearl Cotton embroidery colors to complement the fabric colors.
The finished size is approx. 45″ square, which would work for a lap blanket – or, in Marmalade’s case, a cat blanket!Pin It
