Churchmouse Yarns has some great project kits, and this one is no exception. The pattern is titled Magic Three-Yarn Scarf, and it can be used with a variety of yarns at different gauges, but I bought the kit with three skeins of Rowan Cocoon in colors Frost, Amber, and Crag.
The pattern called for US 10 1/2s, but I didn’t have long enough needles (it’s knit lengthwise, so you need at least 32″ needles) – I initially tried US 11s, but the stitch was way too loose. I went down to US 10s, and was very happy with the outcome. It’s a simple garter stitch pattern that goes quickly because of the bulky yarn – I finished a 6″ wide scarf in two evenings.
I love how the Rowan Cocoon feels, and these colors are gorgeous together – I would gladly wear this scarf, but I think it’s masculine enough to give to my 20s-something cousin. If I had all the time in the world, I’d try the pattern again and again with different colors of Cocoon – something with pink/red/ivory would be gorgeous, I think.Pin It
