Purple moon shawl

My second time knitting the Cladonia shawl pattern, this time with Sundara fingering silky merino yarn (50% silk, 50% merino wool) in colors Lunar Eclipse and Dark Side of the Moon.

I used US 6 needles and followed the pattern without modifications.  The resulting fabric is really nice, drapey but not too loose, even though the yarn is recommended for US 0-2 needles.

This yarn is incredibly soft and wonderful to work with.  Look how beautiful these colors are!  It’s interesting how they look different when they’re striped together.

At 500 yards per skein, I have enough left for a whole new project . . .  I think I’ll try a scarf with a linen stitch – kind of monotonous, but good knitting in the car or in front of the TV.  One Caldonia scarf is enough for me for a while – especially the picot loop bind-off, which took me over two hours!
