Another fabric-inspired project . . . I wanted to try out Robert Kaufman’s Baby Waffle fabric (100% midweight cotton), so I ordered two yards from Purl Soho and split it in half so that each piece was approx. 44″ x 36″. For the first piece, I sewed on a polka-dot bias tape, so that both sides of the blanket were waffle print.
For the second piece, I sewed the waffle fabric right sides to right sides (leaving a 3″ gap) with a leftover from my fabric stash, then cut the corners and turned it right side out and stitched a hemstitch all the way around 1/4″ inch from the edge. This hemstitch closed the 3″ gap and will keep the edges from rolling or folding when the blanket is washed.
I liked the baby blue and peachy orange colors together – I think that the two blankets make a nice gift set. A one-of-a-kind handmade baby gift, in less than an hour!Pin It
