This gorgeous color was TFA’s July club yarn – one beautiful skein of Tanis Fiber Arts Red Label Cashmere/Silk Single (75% merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk). The color is named Papaya, and the 420 yards was the perfect amount for the Suncrest Shawl pattern, with some left over. I knit the pattern on the recommended US 6s, and the only modification I made was to knit one additional repeat of the six-row lace pattern.
This was a fun pattern – quick and satisfying. The body of the shawl is in garter stitch and it’s knit from short edge to short edge, then you go back and pick up stitches all along the length of one long side, and knit the lace repeats. It doesn’t take too long, and it has just enough variety so that I was able to knit it while on vacation, but so that it wasn’t too boring, either.
The color is very vibrant, with nice tonal variations of orangish-reds, oranges, and orange-golds. It’s definitely a summer color.
I would definitely use this pattern again to show off a beautiful skein of fingering weight yarn. It’s incredibly soft and lightweight – perfect on a summer evening with a sundress!Pin It
