I saw this project on Tanis’ blog and I couldn’t resist, even though it doesn’t really go with our 90-degree weather right now! This is an awesome pattern – very quick knit, interesting and the perfect way to show off 2-3 skeins of a gorgeous hand-dyed worsted weight yarn.
The pattern name is French Cancan and I used Tanis Fiber Arts Orange Label yarn (75% merino, 15% cashmere, 10% silk). I can’t tell you how wonderful this yarn feels – so soft, substantial, and drapey, it’s just what you’d want to wrap around your neck on a chilly day!
The color is Frost – one of Tanis’ newer colors that I’ve been dying to try – and at 205 yards per skein, I used a little more than two skeins. The pattern is written so that you could easily do it with two skeins, but it would be a little shorter / skinnier.
I highly recommend this pattern, and TFA Orange Label is the perfect yarn – I had no problem using it, even though the pattern calls for a lighter-weight yarn. In fact, I like it better with the heft and feel of the worsted weight. I went ahead and knitted on the recommended US 7s, even though I was using heavier yarn, and it worked perfectly.Pin It
