Dreamy summer shawl

Pattern:  Sophisticated Traveler

Needles:  US 5s and US 7s

Plucky Knitter yarn

Yarn:  Plucky Knitter Cashmere (2 skeins, 280 yds/ea, with about 1/3 of the second skein left over) and Plucky Knitter Sophisticate (merino/mohair/silk) (1 skein, 510 yds, with about 1/4 of the skein left over) – both in color Dreamy

It was fun to get to use two different Plucky Knitter bases for this project, and I like how the result is just subtle, tonal differences, instead of the more “stripy” appearance that using two difference colors would have given.

The combination of cashmere and a merino/silk/mohair blend makes this shawl incredibly soft, and also remarkably light – warm, but still light enough for summer evenings.  I wish it wasn’t a triangular shape, though – this is my least favorite shape of shawl, I always feel like a granny with it hanging down my back, and it doesn’t wrap well around my neck.  I much prefer crescent shawls, or even elongated rectangles.Dreamy summer shawl 3
