This is about as adorable as it gets – I’ve been wanting to knit the Maile Sweater pattern for a while, and when I found this yarn at the Sock Summit, it was the perfect excuse. The yarn is Dapper by Little Red Bicycle, in color Granny Smith – just about the greatest color I’ve ever knit in, I loved the shade of green (so hard to capture on camera) and the variation of color within the yarn.
This is a fingering weight yarn, 75% superwash merino, 15% cashmere, and 10% silk – practical and luxurious at the same time! Out of 400 yards I was able to knit the sweater in size 0-3 months (on US 4s), the Swirl Hat in size newborn (on US 3 dpns), and a pair of Saartje’s booties in size newborn (on US 1s). An entire baby gift set out of one skein of fabulous yarn! If only I had more babies to knit for, I’d do one of these sets in every color – I was able to finish the hat in one evening, the booties in even less time than that, and the sweater in approx. two days. Ah, the instant gratification of knitting in tiny size . . .Pin It
